Ireland Golf

There are two dream locations in the world where every golfer wants to golf and one of them is Ireland. No, I’m not going to tell you what the other one is. Golfing in Ireland gives you two countries for the price of one as the north of Ireland is still under British rule. The golfing is equally good in both but the people are different. One of the first things most visitors to Ireland notice is how friendly and approachable the natives are. This welcoming and sociable attitude comes naturally to the Irish and is one of the main attractions that draw millions of visitors to Ireland every year.

No article about Ireland and particularly, no article about golf can go without a mention of the Emerald Isle, a name given to Ireland because of its lush green vegetation. The climate is ideal for the main Irish crop. No, it’s not potatoes. It’s grass. Ok we don’t have a rainforest, but we have countless golf courses all covered in the finest green grass you could find.

I want to single out one golf course, the K Club. The Club is set amongst 550 acres of County Kildare  was the venue for the European Championship since 1994 and the venue for The Ryder Cup in 2006, it was developed at considerable expense and boasts the finest facilities available making it one of the finest golf courses in the world. If you have come to Ireland to find a the finest of golf courses, this is a must.

I do not intend to name any more because we have so many really good golf courses in Ireland. You play golf so you know what to expect from a fine golf course. So I will instead focus on what Ireland has to offer.

In many families there is only one golfer and this is usually a man. The idea of a golfing holiday can therefore be a less than exciting prospect for the rest of the family. What to do?

Ireland is a country surrounded by the sea so there is no shortage of long sandy beaches for the kids to play on. One very popular activity is fishing expeditions. The teenagers in the family may want to take mom shark fishing. But she will most likely prefer to go shopping.

Every town in Ireland now a shopping centre (Mall) in their area which has all the big names in European names in style and good taste. Ireland is considered to be one of the most beautiful countries offering an array of breathtaking architectural points, as well as a fascinating history to explore. The matchless scenery includes the Cliffs of Moher (Ireland’s answer the Grand Canyon)

After a day on the golf course, some refreshment is required. What better place to be than an Irish pub in Ireland. Irish pubs have sprung up all around the world, but there is nothing like the real thing. Many pubs have live traditional music. This is often played by patrons who “happened to bring their instruments with them.” Ireland’s reputation for good food is second to none. Most of the top chefs in the world are Irish. Whether getting pub grub for lunch or a seven course evening meal you are assured of quality dining.

You may even be persuaded to, dare I say it, skip the golf for a day or two and just enjoy the atmosphere and environment that is Ireland today.

Only in Ireland will find grocery stores with a small bar round the back, where you are offered a drink while you wait until the official opening time! Places like this are getting hard to find. So, hurry up before they disappear.

Ireland travel packages can include flights to Ireland, hotels in Ireland and the golf.

Enjoy your Ireland vacations but Don't Forget the Golf
